a tragic love story

... I found them. The fateful TeenVogue spreads that would start my undying love affair for military jackets and zippers.

Once upon a time, there was a fair maiden. Her love story all began in the April 2009 issue. One lovely March day, shereceived the April issue in the mail. She didn't know what was in store for me, but it was love at first sight.

First, she met her "Enchanted Soldier" [AKA the name of the spread]. He charmed her right away, with the jacket detailing that reminded her soo fondly of old-school marching uniforms. She couldn't resist falling into the traps of his awesome button detailing and the symmetrical design. And it was the first time that she saw the 3.1 Phillip Lim vest that would later make so many appearances in her life...

Oh, but then they attended the "Twilight Prom" [also, name of spread]. At first, she was not very amused while shopping for dresses [AKA looking at the rest of the spread], but OH MY, THAT DRESS. That 3.1 Phillip Lim ruffle zipper dress. Love at first sight! The dress and her were meant to be, and she attended the prom with her Enchanted Soldier, wearing her lovely zipper dress.

And they lived happily ever after.

Annnnnd, I am officially weird. Can you relate to this? Falling in love with clothes/a trend? Falling in love with something else that will never love you back? Ice cream, for example? Don't get me started on ice cream......

PS: A lot of guys have been telling me that we need to start posting stuff about guys. We will. Trust me. I just need to research some before I can post anything substantial. And okay, you can't say I've been entirely neglecting men's fashion. Look at all those pictures of Korean male celebrities!!! They are very fashionable too. Hmph.
PPS: The CW is going to have a new series about high-fashion modeling. Starring Sara Paxton, Mischa Barton, Ben Hollingsworth, Nico Tortorella, and Corbin Bleu. Going to be the next Gossip Girl? We'll see. However, I am excited.
PPPS: There's going to be a movie about Coco Chanel's early life, starring AUDREY TAUTOU<3.

mish mash

This is just a bunch of random stuff that I wanted to share.

First, two Twitter-related events. I told the Uniform Project brains [AKA Sheena Matheiken] that I blogged about her and got a reply!

AND, I won something off of a F21 Twitter Tuesday contest! LOL. So they first asked a question regarding a twitpic. You were supposed to name the Summer Must-Have according to their website [the romper! -- I agree!], and then choose which of the three tops you wanted. However, no one claimed the first one, so they said to name the name of their blog [The Skinny] right as I refreshed my Twitter homepage. Therefore I was the first to reply! YAY! Here's the conversation, and what I won.

Top #1 [It's short so I guess I'll have to work my belly and/or layerlayerlayer.]

If you guys have twitter.. well, I guess you can see my username in those pictures, so follow me if you so desire! (: Click here.

Okay, next subject, Chictopia. I made an account like, maybe a week ago. But wasn't really sure about what outfit to post first so I haven't uploaded any pictures yet. But, if you guys have Chictopia accounts, befriend me there! Click here.

Remember zippers? Well, here's another great accessory that I found on F21 with zipper accents.

Zipper Trim Flower Headband $5.80

Also, military/marching-band style jackets are everywhere in Korean pop fashion right now. And what's even weirder to me [I'm down with the jackets] is that shakos [AKA the hats worn for marching band] are too!

The ever-so-fashion-forward G-Dragon of Big Bang in their newest Japanese music video, Gara Gara Go. [I know these are not the best quality pictures or the most flattering, but I had to work with screencaps and uncompromising YouTube videos. Also, later in the video, you see TOP wearing a red military jacket.]

Another picture of GD, this time in a red military jacket and a single white glove [MJ style!!] for the filming of Big Bang's Hite Beer CF.

House Rulez in their new concept for their 2.5 album. [shako -- far left, saxophone -- center, military vest -- far right]

CL of 2NE1 for their first mini-album cover photoshoot with a military-style vest.

SNSD for their new military concept for Tell Me Your Wish (Genie).

The Plano Band style. [Although no one is actually wearing them in these pictures... but that is besides the point. Photo credit: Grace Suarez]

Also, I have some kind of top-secret info regarding something that may be coming up with Shake the World hehe. I am very excited, so I'll keep yall posted!

Also, TOMS Shoes just showed up on my sidebar on Facebook. FB is such a stalker [it probably got TOMS Shoes from me and Devin's wall posts about them].

Okay, I think I'm done being random. Also, I would like to apologize for how image-heavy all of my entries are. I just like pictures =( They're worth a thousand words, right? Haha. Also, I would like to apologize for my incessant use of "also."

[Because this is so random, look at how many tags I have for this. Crazyyy.]

hut, two, three, four // left, left, left right left

I'm sure we've all heard of the untimely death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. I just wanted to make a little fashion tribute to him, focusing on his military jackets, especially since they have started to become a trend again.

Here's a mish-mash of images of Michael Jackson's military jackets from this MTV slideshow.
This is one of his famous jackets.

Look at the runway-inspired version in Balmain's Spring 2009 show. And pictures of Beyoncé wearing it.

Also, look at the arm wrappings on MJ's arm, which clearly inspired the looks for 2PM [a Korean pop boy band] through not only the similar arm wrappings / across-the-shoulder wrapping but also their military-inspired tops [especially the epaulettes].
I know the pictures of 2PM are really bad but I had to use screencaps from YouTube videos of their live performances because I couldn't find any stills. Sorry =( Also, in their first picture, I circled what I was trying to emphasize.Korean singer, Baek Ji Young, wore an inspired jacket during a performance on KBS Music Bank on June 26th.

I'm trying to find a more affordable jacket [compared to the $11,410 Balmain] -- will share when I finally find it. I had been wanting one really badly before I realized the MJ influence. Ironically, very similar to my new marching uniform.
Picture taken by Grace Suarez. I'm not actually in this picture but I love all the people that are!

These are some extra pictures that I liked [basically, I have the entire MTV slideshow on the blog lol]. The third picture where MJ's wearing tons of studded items is for Elaine, because I know she loves them.

No one can quite wear sequins and sparkle like MJ can. Rest in peace.

Sigh, it is 4AM and I have my senior pictures in approximately 6 hours. Staying up this late can't be good for those. Panda eyes, here I come!
